Day 10 - King Josiah

John Jolly

Read: 2 Kings 22:1-20

Reflect: In this passage, we see the story of King Josiah, who was just a boy when he became king of Judah. Despite his youth, he was a righteous king who sought to follow and serve God. During his reign, the book of the law was discovered in the temple and Josiah was moved to lead a reform of the kingdom and bring it back to the worship of the one true God. He destroyed the idols and false gods that had been worshiped and established the true worship of God in the land.

This passage teaches us about the importance of repentance, returning to God, and having faith in Him. King Josiah's actions show that it is never too early or too late to turn back to God and seek His will for our lives. It also teaches us about the power of God's word, how it can bring us to repentance and guide us in our lives. It highlights the importance of having faith in God, following his commandments and his guidance, and being obedient to him.

Respond: As Christians today, we can learn from King Josiah's example of repentance, seeking after God and having faith in him. Take a moment to reflect on any areas of your life where you may have strayed from following God and where you may have been lacking faith in Him. Are there any actions or habits that need to be changed in order to align with God's will for your life? Challenge yourself to make those changes and to actively seek after God and His word in your daily life. Remember King Josiah's dedication to following God and having faith in Him, and be encouraged to do the same in your own life.
