Day 6 - Woman with the Issue of Blood

Tori Roessler

Read: Mark 5:24-34

Reflect: As Jesus was walking, a crowd gathered around Him. Verse 24 tells us that people “thronged him,” meaning that the crowd was dense and filled the area. When the woman with the issue of blood reaches out to touch Jesus, He asks “Who touched my clothes?”  In the disciples’ minds, Jesus probably sounded a little crazy. He had a whole crowd of people following Him, touching Him, and now Jesus is asking, “Who touched my clothes?”

But Jesus knew that something was different. The woman that had reached out to touch Him had done so with faith that something would happen. As soon as she touched Him, she was healed. The crowds surrounding Jesus were curious about Him, but very few reached out in faith. One woman fought desperately through a crowd to just touch Jesus, and she had faith that He would move on her behalf.

Respond: Has Jesus simply been a passing acquaintance for you? Why have you followed Jesus to this point, simply because you are curious? Have you ever reached out to Christ in faith, trusting that His touch will change you forever? Look closely at the difference between the people, those who were curious and those that acted on their faith. How can you act on your faith today? What decisions can you make, how can you reach out to Christ?
