Day 13 - John Mark
Read: Acts 12:25; 13:5, 13; 15:37-40, 2 Timothy 4:11
Reflect: In this passage, Paul, who is in prison and near the end of his life, sends a message to Timothy, his beloved son in the faith. In it, he reminds Timothy of his fellow workers and among them, he commends John Mark, saying "Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry." This passage highlights the journey of John Mark's relationship with Paul, from a setback early on, to being restored and becoming a profitable minister of the gospel. It also teaches us about the importance of forgiveness, growth and the potential of every person.
John Mark's journey of faith is an example that we all make mistakes, and sometimes we fall short, but it's never too late to return to God and continue to serve him. It reminds us that God's grace and forgiveness is always available to us, and that we should never give up on our faith journey. It's worth mentioning that John Mark wrote the gospel of Mark which is one of the four canonical gospels of the New Testament.
Respond: Take a moment to reflect on any areas of your life where you may have given up or fallen short in your faith journey. Challenge yourself to persevere and not give up, like John Mark did. Remember that God's grace and forgiveness is always available to us, and that it's never too late to return to him and continue to serve him. Reflect on your own relationships and think about how you can be a profitable minister of the gospel, like John Mark was.
