Day 7 - Daniel
Read: Daniel 1:6-21
Reflect: Daniel and his friends knew there were certain foods that God had instructed them not to eat. Daniel and his friends were hundreds of miles from home…likely to never return. They were under the authority of a pagan king. The temple was destroyed. They had all the reason in the world to no longer follow God’s instructions and conform. Daniel instead decided he would place his faith in God to deliver him and his friends. This wasn’t just believing though…Daniel acted on this faith. God gave Daniel the tools he needed to obey God. God gave Daniel a good relationship with the eunuch in charge, He gave Daniel the wisdom to present the eunuch with an option he could agree to, He gave Daniel and his friends a good response to the diet they received. In the end Daniel and his friends were rewarded with high positions in a foreign government due to their faith that obedience to God was more important than those positions.
Respond: What areas are you tempted to conform to this world? What ways can your faith in God be put into action to avoid or overcome those temptations? What tools do you need from God to put your faith into action? Pray for God to give you the tools and faith to overcome what the world is begging to corrupt you with.
