Day 31 - Solomon
Read: 1 Kings 3:5-15
Reflect: Have you ever been doing something like driving a car and it hits you like, “Wow! I am really doing this” or “Wow! I am driving this car.” It's like a wake up call and it isn't exactly pleasant either. I am sure that's how Solomon felt when he was suddenly king of Israel. Then when God comes to him in a dream Solomon tells him that he feels like a child that doesn't know what to do. We need to have faith like a child for Jesus—dependent, true, and unrelenting. God asks Solomon in this dream for what he wants and instead of saying something like riches or honor or a long life he asks for wisdom. God was proud of Solomon for asking for wisdom so he also gave him riches and honor and that if he would follow the Lord’s commands then he would live longer.
Respond: Would you have prayed for wisdom or would you have prayed for riches or honor? Do you have faith in God like a child has faith in their parents?
