Day 28 - Barak

Read: Judges 4:6-24; Hebrews 11:32

Reflect: Have you ever heard about a guy named Barak in the Bible? Also did you know he made it into the hall of faith? In this Scripture, Barak is introduced as the commander of the Israelite army and is called by Deborah to lead the battle against the Canaanite army of King Jabin.

Barak and his army would soon defeat the Canaanite army under the command of Sisera, the king of the Canaanite army.  So why is Barak listed alongside other Old Testament figures in Hebrews 11.   It seems Barak is listed because he showed great faith in God and achieved great victories through his faith. Barak demonstrated this by obeying the command of the prophetess Deborah and leading the Israelite army against the Canaanite army. Despite the Canaanites' superior military strength, Barak trusted in God's power to deliver victory to his people, and God did not disappoint him. The victory over the Canaanites is attributed to Barak's faith and trust in God, making him worthy of being listed among the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11.

Respond: Today, simply listen to God and do what he says like Barak did and trust Him with the battle.
