Day 17 - Mordecai
Read: Esther 4:14
Reflect: In this passage, we see the story of Mordecai, a Jewish man who was in a position of power as an advisor to King Xerxes of Persia. When he heard of a plot to exterminate all the Jews in the Persian Empire, Mordecai called on Esther, his cousin and the queen of Persia, to reveal her Jewish identity and use her position to intervene on behalf of her people. Esther was initially hesitant, but Mordecai's words, "who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" inspired her to take action and show courage in the face of danger.
Mordecai's story teaches us about the importance of standing up for what is right, even when it is difficult or dangerous. It reminds us that we each have a role to play in standing up for justice and fighting against oppression and that we should be ready to use our position and influence for good. Mordecai's faith in God's plan for Esther and his encouragement to her to use her position for the good of her people is an inspiration for us to do the same.
Respond: Take a moment to reflect on any areas of your life where you may be facing difficult or dangerous situations where you could make a difference. Challenge yourself to use your position and influence for good, like Mordecai did. Remember his example of standing up for what is right and be encouraged to do the same in your own life.
