Day 33 - Moses
Read: Exodus 14:13
Reflect: Moses is one of the most well-known figures in the Old Testament. He was chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and into the Promised Land. Moses' life was marked by his unwavering faith in God, even in the face of seemingly impossible obstacles.
When God first spoke to Moses in the burning bush, he was hesitant to accept God's call. But God promised to be with Moses every step of the way, and Moses eventually came to trust in God's plan. He went to Pharaoh and demanded that he let the Israelites go, even though he knew it would be a difficult and dangerous task. And when Pharaoh refused, God sent a series of plagues to convince him. Through it all, Moses remained faithful to God's plan.
One of the most striking examples of Moses' faith can be found in Exodus 14. The Israelites had finally been released from slavery, but Pharaoh changed his mind and sent his army to pursue them. The Israelites found themselves trapped between the sea and the Egyptian army, with no escape. But Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today." (Exodus 14:13)
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord caused a strong east wind to blow all night long. The wind parted the waters, and the Israelites were able to cross the sea on dry ground. When the Egyptian army tried to follow them, the waters closed in on them, and they were all drowned. The Israelites were saved by God's miraculous intervention.
Although things got tough, Moses never quit having having faith. He trusted God and knew that He would get him through it. And God was faithful to Moses, delivering him and the Israelites from slavery and leading them to the Promised Land. Do you still have faith in God in the hard times? Or is it only when things are going your way?
Respond: Challenge yourself today to be more like Moses and have faith in the hard times. God is with you, God cares, and God will get you through it.
