Day 47 - Noah

Read: Genesis 6:1-22

Reflect: The story of Noah and the ark is a very well known story we’ve all grown up knowing. His story is a perfect representation of strongly putting our faith in God. In Genesis 6-9, we learn that God was unhappy with the behavior of his people and creations and decided to flood the earth in order to start over. However, God saw that Noah was a righteous man and decided to spare him and his family.  God instructed Noah take 2 of every creature along with his family to aboard the ark because there would be a flood approaching that would wipe out all of humanity. Noah obeyed God's instructions even though it had never rained and was very unlikely to.  He still trusted in God’s plan.  Noah worked for 120 years to build the ark and gather the animals.  He received judgment and disapproval from the people around him but he continued and trusted that God had a plan for him. Noah along with his family survived the flood. They lived on the ark for over a year, waiting for the waters to calm.

Throughout this time, Noah continued to trust in God and to follow his commands.  God made a covenant with Noah after the flood was over. He promised to never destroy the earth with a flood again and gave Noah a rainbow as a sign of this covenant. Noah's story is a powerful example of faith in action. Despite the fact that he faced judgment from the people around him and didn’t always fully understand the plan God had for him at the moment, he remained faithful. He trusted that God knew what was best and that he was doing the right thing.

Reflect: What we can learn from this story is that God always has a plan, but to see it through, we first must trust in it.
